A amazingly rare Rolex 16660, Triple Six from 1984 with SN: 805xxxx as LC100, Germany Full Set.
As the successor of the famous and well known Sea Dweller 1665, often called as a transitional reference, this was the first Rolex divers watch to have a sapphire crystal installed and offers a diving depth rating of 4000ft. As a tool watch for deep sea divers, this was obviously a practical and impressive feature. The improved water depth rating was thanks in part to a larger helium escape valve (HEV). Also having the new movement Caliber 3035 installed, which replaced the Caliber 1570 of the previous Sea-Dweller.
This 16660 has a Mark I matte dial in very good condition, with all Tritium lume plots fully intact and color matching Tritium hands, both have aged in an even light vanilla tone. Serial and dial fit perfectly to the 16660 matte dial era. Also case and bracelet look very good and have have been polished in the past, obviously by pros showing nice edges, and a perfect finish. Even though polished the substance of the case is still very good and consistent, the original Rolex springbars do not look out of the holes. Has the correct 83160 bracelet and 592 endlinks, 11 segments and divers extension in good condition with resonable stretch, good for another decade to wear. Bracelet and clasp are original to the the watch, clasp code G for 1982.
Watch comes as a cool Full Set with it’s original outer box with reference sticker, inner box, blanko LC100 punched papers, hangtag, 4000 ft ancor, translation booklet and wallet. The punched paper also has the reference sticker „16660“ outside and as it should be for 80’s papers, also a green sticker with reference and serial present.
Watch has received a checkup and adjustment through my Rolex watchmaker recently. Running perfectly with high amplitude. He also changed all gaskets and the crown, old exchanged parts are delivered with the set. Waterproofness test at 10 bar passed successfully.
