Rolex Sea-Dweller 16660 MK2 matte dial

Here is another beautiful Sea-Dweller Rolex 16660, Triple Six from 1984 with SN: 809XXXX with an amazing MKII matte dial. This Mark II matte dial is in excellent condition with all lume plots intact and color matching hands, both Tritium aged to a light vanilla tone. Tritium second hand must have been replaced at some time, as it is still glowing a bit under the UV light – so the pearl. Case might has been slightly in the in the past, but could also be unpolished, very hard to say here. On a 16660 the original helium escape valve (HEV) is always a bit inside the case, so a pretty good indication how much material has been polished off before. Comes with a 93160 bracelet and 592 endlinks, full 13 segments and divers extension in good condition with resonable stretch, good for another decade to wear. Bracelet and clasp are original with the watch, clasp is stamped H (1983).

As the successor of the famous and well known Sea-Dweller 1665, often called as a transitional reference, this was the first Rolex divers watch to have a sapphire crystal installed and offers a diving depth rating of 4000ft. As a tool watch for deep sea divers, this was obviously a practical and impressive feature. The improved water depth rating was thanks in part to a larger helium escape valve (HEV). Also having the new movement Caliber 3035 installed, which replaced the Caliber 1570 of the previous Sea-Dweller.

The watch had a complete movement service recently and is running as it should on high amplitude of 290 degrees and above. Has an old crystal without laser engraving and the original HEV. Watch is not completely waterproof due to HEV. If you request, my AD can install a new one and the watch is ready for deep diving.
