Zenith El Primero A384 Chronograph | unpolished

This Zenith A384 Chronograph with legendary automatic “El Primero” cal.3019PHC comes directly from the son of the first owner, who found it in a closet after not beeing used for almost 20 years. Serial 517DXXX dates to a manufacuring date around 1970. Introduced in 1969 the A384 has been the first Automatic Chronograph in the world housing the El Primero movement 3019PHC with 50 hours of power reserve. The fact that Zenith intruduced a A384 Revival in 1969, 50 years after the introduction of the A384 emphasizes the importance of this reference in Zenith history. Exact production numbers are unknown, but it is estimated that only around 1000 to 2000 pieces have been made. The 37mm case is in it’s original and unpolished condition, but shows some signs of prior wristtime. The cream and black colored Tritium Panda Dial with matching original hands is in untouched condition showing some beautiful patina. Movement is running strong and accurate with +3xec/day on the timegrapher, according to the last owner, around 15 years ago there has been a complete movement service through Zenith authorized watchmaker, and the watch hasn’t been worn thereafter. Nevertheless I gave it to Zenith to have another movement service to be done, watch will be back shortly. Originallly sold with a leather strap, the first owner in Germany decided to have a ROWI steel bracelet mounted instead – not the “official” Gay Freres bracelet, but this has obviously been another (cheaper) option in the early 70’s in Germany.
